Manufacturing Day throws open the factory doors

Posted by IndustryNet on Monday, October 8, 2018

Man looks at robotic arm displayed through a glass caseThis October, over 3,000 events celebrating Manufacturing Day will salute a vital engine of our economy. Since 2012, companies, communities and organizations have joined in the effort to educate the public on the contribution of the manufacturing industry to the quality of life across the country and around the world.

Goods-producing industries pay higher wages than fields such as health care or hospitality, enabling workers to provide for and educate their families better.

Manufacturing multiplies the output of other parts of the economy, sparking other sectors to produce an additional 40 percent. As of April, manufacturing had shown 20 months of continuous growth and manufacturers expect to add almost 2 percent more jobs this year.

Manufacturers gain many benefits by participating in Manufacturer's Day. Companies can join together both in expressing their concerns and communicating the challenges posed by current events. By inviting the public into their world, they can increase both support for and understanding of their needs.

Here are some of the events that open the door to the manufacturing universe:
